Large Copper Hand Pendant
Large Copper Hand Pendant
This series of “hand” pendants is inspired by the creations of the ancient Hopewell Culture. The Hopewell people, of what is now southern Ohio, created and buried effigies of hands in their mound graves as a way to connect the spirit world with the living world.
Each copper hand is unique and hand cut from sheet metal, filed, sanded, textured and selectively embellished. In this case with a large turquoise gemstone bead and textured copper washer. This hand is finished with a rustic patina that is sealed for a stable finish. The antique copper finished chain is 27” long . The hand measures 4 1/2” tall from the top of the jump ring to the bottom of the longest finger, and 1 5/8” at the hand’s widest point. This light weight necklace will compliment any outfit, from casual to dressy.
According to my source, it is said that turquoise is connected to the healing energy of water and is believed to be the stone for protection. It has been used for many years as a spiritual salve for those who were suffering.
