A talisman is a very special object, believed to possess magical powers and intended to empower the wearer, bringing good luck. This one-of-a-kind assemblage earring is created from treasured natural and found materials. stitched together on a forged copper backing. It can be worn as an earring (it is a bit heavy so strong ear lobes are recommended) or converted to a pendant with a custom leather cord or copper ball chain, or even mounted to be a wall piece. It measures 7 3/4” from the top of hand forged ear wire to the bottom of the gorgeous turkey feather and is about 2 1/2” wide. Materials include barks, forged copper with sealed patina, found objects (crushed bottle cap, brass dome, wire, screening), curly willow twig, isling glass, Chinese coin, turquoise beads, turkey, pheasant, and guinea hen feathers, copper, shell, brass and glass beads, a Kentucky crinoid, all stitched to the bark, then to the copper foundation, with waxed linen. A dusting of gold gilder’s paste highlights the surface for additional “magic”.
